Many of the suburbs feature school districts that have been ranked among the highest in the state for academic performance and the private schools in the city offer low student-teacher ratios for more individualized instruction.
Ottawa Hills is continuously ranked among the top school systems in Ohio. Other outstanding school districts in the area include Sylvania, Springfield, Anthony Wayne, Maumee, Perrysburg, Rossford, Washington Local, Lake and Bedford in southeast Michigan. The high schools also offer outstanding extracurricular programs including exciting sports and high-quality theater productions.
In addition to the public schools, northwest Ohio offers private schools which include a wide variety of Catholic grade schools and high schools as well as Maumee Valley Country Day School, West Side Montessori, Toledo Christian and State Line Christian School. Most of the private high schools in the area boast a 99 percent graduation rate and more than 90 percent of their graduates go on to higher education.
There are many choices for higher education in northwest Ohio. The University of Toledo, Bowling Green State University and Lourdes College all offer undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate programs. Owens Community College, Stautzenberger College and Davis College offer more specialized degree programs.
