After graduating from Michigan State University in 1980, Todd Berman spent three years working in the building industry before establishing Berman Building Company in 1984.
While Berman Building Company has grown and evolved, the core philosophy has never changed: always be honest, be fair, and strive to exceed client expectations. Every decision Berman company makes and every action the team takes is guided by these values.

Chuck Diegel
Construction Manager
With over four decades of experience in Northwest Ohio’s homebuilding scene, Chuck has gained expertise from framing to finishes. As a long-standing member of the Berman Building Company, he oversees the construction of high-profile construction projects, ensuring precision, flawless execution, and client satisfaction. Chuck also serves as the service manager for the company.
Chuck's always calm demeanor makes him the perfect fit for all of his roles with Berman.
David Filas
General Manager
At Berman Building Company, David serves as General Manager, overseeing the design, build, and service of luxury and custom homes across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. With over 35 years of experience, most of which has been with The Berman Building Company in construction, He has led the development of multiple subdivisions and personally shepherded many of the company’s homes to the finish line, noted for his detailed, on-site, and in-the-field approach.
A Toledo native, David holds degrees in architecture/building and construction management from the University of Toledo.

Jeff Szydlowski
General Manager
With over 40 years in construction, Jeff has spent the last twenty-nine years with Berman building homes, remodeling and renovating homes, and handling all of the company's insurance projects. Jeff's self-taught, hands-on background offers him a vast knowledge of all aspects of construction.
Committed to excellence, Jeff still self-performs many aspects of his projects to ensure every detail meets his exacting standards.
Joe Torok
Renovation Manager
Joe has worked alongside Todd Berman for over forty years, beginning in 1981 as a carpenter and advancing to his current role as remodel and renovation manager. For mid-sized to major renovation and addition projects, he brings a craftsman’s eye for detail and leads a skilled team of master tradespeople. Recognized for his commitment to client satisfaction, Joe works closely with both new and returning families, as well as field trades, inspectors, and design collaborators, maintaining a watchful presence over every aspect of job site and renovation operations.
